SF Beer Week 2014 Approaches

We all know that if there is one holiday that personifies drinking culture more than any other, it is St. Patrick’s Day, so what better way to spend the Irish holiday than with a bar crawl? That is just what we suggest you do for 2014 with the St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl, going down this March 15th in San Francisco. Over 1,500 people joined in for the crawl last year, meaning that this should be a pretty major event and one that you will not want to miss if you love St. Patrick’s Day mirth

Wristbands are to be picked up at Circa after 1:00 PM, and the crawl starts at 2:00 and runs until 6:00. Participating bars include Eastside West, Cornet Club, Stock and Trade, KT’s, and of course Circa. There will be drink specials at all participating bars for those with wristbands, including $5 Jameson at Eastside West, $3 Heinekens or Bud Lights at Cornet Club, $5 Whiskey Gingers at Stock and Trade, and $2 10 ounce draft beers at KT’s. There will also be an after party at Eastside West for the revelers who are still going, featuring high-energy music from popular Bay Area DJ Traviswild. Big Lebowski Party on Saturday

There are few movies in the history of cinema which have had the kind of cultural impact, particularly among the counterculture set, as The Big Lebowski. The film, which really needs no introduction, stars Jeff Bridges as “The Dude”; an eclectic, White Russian-drinking fellow who likes to bowl and marches to the beat of his own drummer.

Although the film is set in Los Angeles, it is a decidedly California-as-a-whole affair, meaning Northern California cats get down with The Dude too. This is evidenced by the Big Lebowski Party which has been taking place in San Francisco for over a decade, now on its 11th year. The event will be going down at 518 Valencia Gallery this year on the day after Valentine’s Day, Saturday, February 15th.

The party will start at 8 PM, and will include things you would generally expect at a Big Lebowski affair, including plenty of White Russians, a Lebowski costume contest, and a 35mm screening of the classic Coen brothers film at midnight. It is $12 to get in and a 21+ event.

I don’t know that there is any film that much better exemplifies the Party Travel Hotspots aesthetic than The Big Lebowski, meaning you will definitely see us there getting our Dude on with our fellow SF Lebowski fanatics! Don’t miss it, and don’t forget where you got the inside scoop: PTH’s San Francisco Lowdown.

Beats For Boobs Event This Saturday

If there are two things that we at Party Travel Hotspots’ SF Lowdown love (and just about everyone in their right mind loves for that matter), it would be beats and boobs. For this reason, the 10th annual Beats For Boobs event going down this Saturday, January 25th at Mezzanine is definitely right up our alley. The event will start at 7 PM and go until 2 AM, and will feature music, art, fashion, food, drinks and more. Proceeds will go to support local breast cancer organizations, making this a party with a conscience and a cause worth fighting for.

If you are wondering exactly what to expect, there will be music by local DJs such as shOOey, Atish, and Kimmy Le Funk, and art by Christa Grenawalt and Nick Myerhoff. There will be performance art, including an aerial performance by Chloe Marvel Light, a dance show by the Solar Flare Light Dancers, and the Dhol Rhythms of Non Stop Bhangra bringing their unique stylings to the proceedings. A few of the fashion labels to join in on the festivities will be Warrior Within, Milena, Silver Lucy, and Wabi Sabi Couture. Food will be provided by Takko, Sauce, and The Cake Gallery, and there will also be hair and makeup artists on-site to get you looking your best.

For more information on the event and to purchase tickets, please check out the official website. Remember, this is all for a good cause, and those affected by breast cancer will greatly appreciate your support.

This Saturday, November 2nd, foodies in San Francisco will have reason to celebrate as “Gourmet East Bay” will be hitting the city for 2013. Taking place at the Broadway Plaza shopping center in Walnut Creek, the event will feature 20 of the East Bay’s finest eateries offering up the best cuisine on their menus. There will also be eight featured wineries from Livermore, Napa, and Lodi, a featured brewery (Ale Industries), and Steeltown Coffee & Tea will be offering up the caffeinated goodness.

There will be spirits vendors mixing up fine cocktails, live music, and a raffle and silent auction featuring some quite exciting and lucrative prizes. On top of everything else, proceeds will go to support the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano and Project Open Hand, making this an event with a conscience.

Tickets go for $60-$70, which is not a bad price at all considering the quality of food and drink to be available at this event. If you live in the Bay Area and love great cuisine and libations, you will not want to miss Gourmet East Bay 2013, taking place from 7:00-10:00 PM on November 2nd.
