St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl 2014

Posted by GPGarry | Posted in Drink Events, Holiday Events, Nightlife | Posted on 10-03-2014

We all know that if there is one holiday that personifies drinking culture more than any other, it is St. Patrick’s Day, so what better way to spend the Irish holiday than with a bar crawl? That is just what we suggest you do for 2014 with the St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl, going down this March 15th in San Francisco. Over 1,500 people joined in for the crawl last year, meaning that this should be a pretty major event and one that you will not want to miss if you love St. Patrick’s Day mirth

Wristbands are to be picked up at Circa after 1:00 PM, and the crawl starts at 2:00 and runs until 6:00. Participating bars include Eastside West, Cornet Club, Stock and Trade, KT’s, and of course Circa. There will be drink specials at all participating bars for those with wristbands, including $5 Jameson at Eastside West, $3 Heinekens or Bud Lights at Cornet Club, $5 Whiskey Gingers at Stock and Trade, and $2 10 ounce draft beers at KT’s. There will also be an after party at Eastside West for the revelers who are still going, featuring high-energy music from popular Bay Area DJ Traviswild. San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus Christmas Eve Performance

Posted by GPGarry | Posted in Holiday Events, LGBT Events, Music Events | Posted on 22-12-2013

It is that time of the year again, and the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus are putting on their annual holiday performance this Christmas Eve, titled Shine. This year is the 35th anniversary of the group, who’s first performance was during a moving candlelight vigil held for Harvey Milk on the night of his tragic death. The chorus has played an integral role in LGBT activism over the years, but is also known for their sheer musical excellence, which will certainly be on display this December 24.

There will be 300 participants in the performance which will go down at the Castro Theatre at 5:00, 7:00 and 9:00 PM. Recording artist Matt Alber and SF Opera soprano Marina Harris will make special guest appearances, and of course you will get to hear plenty of Christmas and Holiday favorites. Artistic Director Dr. Timothy Seelig has been reluctant to spill the beans regarding exactly what to expect at this performance, meaning there should be some very special surprises.

Whether you are a member of the San Francisco LGBT community, an ally, or simply a lover of great choral and holiday music, this event is one you will definitely want to check out if time and funds permit. Tickets are $25-$35, and they can be purchased here.
