If you live in the Bay Area and love avant-garde music, there is no better opportunity to see the compositions of some of the top of avant-garde composers working today in concert than at the Other Minds Festival which will take place on February 28 and March 1, 2014 at the SF Jazz Center.

Other Minds is now in its 19th year, and it is one of the country’s longest-running and most relevant avant-garde music events. Each year, nine composers display some of their best work for discerning Bay Area fans of cutting-edge avant-garde composition.

This particular festival, unlike past installments, will feature all Bay Area composers, making it a unique event and one you will not want to miss if you take pride in local Bay Area music. The featured composers will include Mark Applebaum, John Bischoff, Donald Buchla, Joseph Byrd, Charles Celeste Hutchins, Myra Melford, Roscoe Mitchell, Wendy Reid, and John Schott, and their music will be performed by such excellent musicians as Alan Zimmerman (percussion), Sarah Cahill (piano), the Del Sol String Quartet, Dan Seamus (bass), John Hanes (drums), Tom Dambly (trumpet), and J.D. Parran, Vinny Golia, & Scott Robinson (bass saxophones).

For more information on the festival, including a complete program, and to purchase tickets, please check out the official website for the event.
